The Westminster Forder Centre and Michael Murray Centre Foyer Extension at Westminster College, Marion, represent a transformative addition to the campus’s educational and cultural precinct.

PT Design partnered with Brown Falconer and Sarah Constructions to deliver these award-winning facilities, which anchor a central green space and form a permeable edge to the main oval while seamlessly connecting to existing school buildings.

The Forder Centre is a three-storey, multi-purpose building that houses the contemporary Martin Library, music and drama studios, a dining hall, and the vibrant Dragon Café. The design features large-span topped Deltacore planks to create open, flexible learning spaces with minimal propping, while a robust raft and pile footing system ensures structural stability. Precast shear walls and cores provide lateral support, and a striking V-column becomes a sculptural focal point in the open-plan interior. The building’s brick and glazed facades, accented by feature screens, blend harmoniously with the surrounding landscape and existing campus architecture.

The Michael Murray Centre expansion includes a steel-framed foyer entry extension with a glazed façade and a feature canopy, enhancing the arrival experience for the school’s renowned performing arts venue. The new foyer and back-of-house spaces support both school and community events, while the library’s perforated screens and upper-level music centre provide inspiring, light-filled environments for learning and creativity. PT Design’s engineering expertise enabled the integration of these complex structures with the existing campus, ensuring accessibility, durability, and flexibility for future generations.
