Located within the historic Sturt Grove Farm at Westminster College, Marion, the Westminster Agriculture Centre is a pioneering facility that blends the functionality of an industrial shed with the versatility of a contemporary learning environment.

PT Design collaborated with Brown Falconer and Partek Construction & Interiors to deliver a space that supports Westminster’s renowned Agriculture program, offering students hands-on experience across the entire food and fibre production chain-from paddock to plate.

The structure is anchored by raft footings and polished concrete floors, providing a robust and easy-to-maintain base for a wide range of activities. A portal frame shed structure enables large, flexible interior volumes, while feature canopies and a mix of claddings and finishes create a modern barn aesthetic that resonates with the rural context. The centre houses high-tech classrooms, science and food technology labs, a viticulture and aquaculture lab, produce processing areas, a community farm shop, and shearing facilities.

PT Design’s engineering allowed for the integration of large open learning spaces with durable, industrial-grade finishes, supporting both practical agricultural tasks and formal education. The facility is designed to foster collaboration with industry experts and local farms.

The Westminster Agriculture Centre stands as a benchmark for innovative, experiential learning environments, preparing students for future careers in agriculture and related fields.
