Brook Bridge House

Max Pritchard Gunner Architects worked closely with PT Design team to bring Brook Bridge House to life—a refined, site-responsive dwelling located in Willunga. Designed to span a seasonal creek, the house presents as both a bridge and a home, its lightweight steel frame delicately poised above the watercourse to minimise impact on the site while maximising engagement with the landscape.

The structural solution was essential to the architectural concept. A steel-framed superstructure extends across the creek, allowing the house to hover above the terrain with minimal intrusion. Timber floor joists span between the steel beams, supporting a series of timber-framed walls and a thin timber framed roof that contributes to the home’s unique appearance.
